Dear Antonietta Pignatelli,
Greetings from 18th International Inner Wheel Convention Virtual 2021!
Exactly three years ago in Melbourne, it was announced that India would be given the opportunity to host the 18th International Inner Wheel Convention. As all of you can imagine, the journey from Melbourne 2018 to India 2021 has been an extremely eventful one, not only for the members of the Local Convention Committee but for all of you who have shared the road with us. As the pandemic brought the world to its knees, we found ourselves reluctantly abandoning the idea of a physical Convention; the uncertainty was too great, the risk just not worth it. This was sadly not to be.
Little did we know at the time that the momentous decision taken by the Executive Committee to turn Friendship Digital would add an unimaginable new dimension to the Convention. Never did we imagine that Virtual Convention will be such a huge success. I cannot thank our Event Organisers MCI enough for their tremendous amount of hard work. Their whole team left no stone unturned in making the event a unique experience for us all. All member countries were kept engaged in contributing their service projects with embedded videos, dances and success stories. And of course, all of this was only possible due to the exemplary leadership of our President Dr Bina Vyas who gave us the advice and help needed to complete a mammoth task such as this.
The Local Convention Committee comprising of Treasurer Gomathi Viswanathan, Chief Steward Shailaja Bhat, Deputy Steward Pushpa Suryamurty and myself are extremely grateful to all the delegates who placed their faith and trust in it. During our journey, we made innumerable friends and will always cherish the friendship bonds thus created. A big THANK YOU to all of you.
We meet again in Manchester 2024 to celebrate 100 years of FRIENDSHIP AND SERVICE.
Yours in Friendship,
